THE SYSTEM Smart freshness

DAS is an active storage environment management system that helps maintain the quality of flowers during storage, transport and sale. It helps to reduce ethylene and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs), creating conditions that promote the preservation of high product quality and limit the growth of undesirable microflora. Every bouquet that is not discarded represents a real saving.

Every bouquet that isn’t thrown away represents a real saving.

Every owner of a florist’s or a wholesale business is familiar with the situation where some stock loses its commercial value more quickly. Flowers need to be discounted, do not look as they should, or end up being disposed of before they can even be sold.

Their shelf life is influenced by many factors. Ethylene accelerates the ageing process, and changes occurring during storage can encourage the growth of undesirable microflora. Shared storage space means that problems affecting part of the stock can affect the remaining plants.

How does the DAS System work?

DAS utilises the natural oxidation processes that occur in nature. As a result, it is active both in the air and on surfaces surrounding the flowers, helping to maintain optimal storage conditions.

The system has been designed for continuous operation in plant storage facilities, helping to maintain optimal conditions that preserve the quality of the plants. In practice, it helps to:

To minimise the impact of ethylene and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) responsible for the accelerated ageing of flowers,

To create an environment conducive to maintaining the quality of the flowers and limiting the growth of undesirable micro-organisms,

Reducing odours associated with decomposition processes,

Maintain better storage and display conditions

Once the storage environment has stabilised, the system operates continuously, helping to maintain the achieved results around the clock

What benefits does DAS offer in day-to-day work?

Tile Icon

Fewer losses of goods

Most of the stock retains its retail value, which helps to minimise markdowns and losses.

Tile Icon

Better protection for the entire consignment

The flowers are stored in a communal area. DAS helps to minimise situations where problems affecting part of the stock start to affect the rest of the flowers.

Tile Icon

Limiting the effects of ethylene

DAS helps to reduce the effects of the natural gas responsible for the accelerated ripening and ageing of flowers.

Tile Icon

Fewer everyday problems

The system operates automatically round the clock and does not require constant supervision.

Tile Icon

A more stable storage environment

Research has confirmed that DAS helps to maintain a more stable storage environment, which helps to limit the growth of undesirable microflora and preserve the high quality of the flowers.

What are the benefits for the customer?

Content Image

Customers don’t buy technology. They buy flowers.
That is why the end result is what matters most – a product that looks good and has retained its quality right up until the moment of purchase.

Better-looking flowers, an attractive display and greater consistency in quality help to build customer trust and create positive shopping experiences.

Backed by research and practical experience – The effectiveness of DAS has been verified both in laboratory tests and during the actual operation of the systems.

Research carried out by the Institute of Plant Protection – National Research Institute in Poznań, together with field trials conducted at an operational Bouqetmat, under real-world conditions, have confirmed that DAS helps maintain a more stable storage environment, conducive to preserving the high quality of the stored flowers, whilst limiting the growth of undesirable microflora

These results are consistent with observations made during real-world implementations. They show that DAS helps to maintain more predictable storage conditions and to minimise factors that contribute to a decline in flower quality.

Two ways to implement it

The DAS System is available as an option on the Bouqetmats manufactured by Eldrut Automatics.

It can also operate as a stand-alone system in existing florists’ shops, wholesalers, florist cold stores, refrigerated lorries and other facilities involved in the storage and sale of flowers.

The system parameters are selected on a case-by-case basis, depending on the size and nature of the facility.

Important information

The DAS System helps to maintain optimal storage conditions; however, it is not a substitute for proper plant care, good storage practices or the standard procedures in place at the premises where flowers are stored and sold.

How well they work depends, amongst other things, on the type of flowers, the conditions at the place where they are stored or sold, and how they are used
